Training Target: Introduction to recreation diving, the basics of sport diving. Requirements:
Minimum age 12 years, mental and physical fitness, written consent from legal guardians for minors, good swimming ability, medical health certificate (maximum 1 year old) Information for the student prior to the training: Requirements related to the training Theoretical training: The students are to be instructed in the “ABC”system, equipment, diving physics, underwater Medics, dive-planning Minimum: 4-6 lessons required for the following subjects: Introduction: Rules of diving, ABC-equipment, demonstration of the UW sign-language (communication), handling and maintenance of the equipment Equipment:: Practical demonstration and handling of the equipment Law of Physics: Their meaning and effect in diving
Underwater Medics: Ear, hyperventilation, respiratory, cardio-vascular system Types of poisoning (CO2, CO, N2, O2) Decompression accidents, Hypothermia, hyperthermia Cramp of the glottic cleft, teeth, drowning in sweet or salt water, panic attacks, life threatening injuries under water. Practical training: Training Program: Empting the mask, AAS, buoyancy control , dive rescue in 4m depth and assisted ascent (transport). Changing own regulator underwater. Demonstration of UW signals, briefing and quality control through the instructor. Minimum 4 dives:
An ementary diver should only make dives in company of experienced and qualified partners (assistant divers). The training should be done with 2 independant air regulators. The student’s safety must always come first. Therefore the training procedure is simply a recommendation which must be modified according to the local circumstances. At the end of the training an Open Water Diving course should be suggested. |
