Training objectives:

The Advanced Open Water Diver becomes more elaborate in theory and practise in order to give a more complete (intense) experience in diving and to increase the level of safety.

Prerequisites:

Minimum of 14 years of age (completed), mental and physical fitness, written consent of legal guardians of minors, good swimming ability, medical health certificate for diving purposes (not older than a year)

Information for students prior to the training:

Request certification of the respective level of training,
Contents, purpose and procedure of the training,
Validity and restrictions of the respective levels,
Introduction to the IDIC diving corporation certification system,
Further opportunities and costs to be expected

Theoretical training:

Minimum of 4 ­ 6 lessons:

Completion of the special certificates

Final written exam

Practical training:

Navigation with compass:

  • Assembling and use of the compass,
  • Bearing, navigation table, consideration of currents,
  • Practical exercises, targeting for bearing points in the water / triangular bearing etc.

Night diving:

  • At a max.depth of 6 ­8 metres,
  • Preparation, safety regulations, performance

One liscence (certificate) free of choices

Special instructions for sress situations in diving (prevention/precaution/reasons)

The training includes more complex equipment, for e.g 2 independant regulators, dive light ( used for signals as well), underwater writing devices, compass and correct handling of the equipment.

The student’s safety is a priority, therefore the training procedure is simply a recommendation which must modified according to the local circumstances.

At the end of the training a final meeting is held and the students should be informed about further levels of diving that can be achieved within the IDIC.
